baked apple
Oct. 12th, 2008 10:11 amB- from the Genius bar just called. The iMac does indeed have a fried main logic board. The repair would be $700, with only a 90 day warranty. Given that brand new iMacs start at a shade over $1000, it doesn't seem worth it.
No, I am not going to consider switching out boards myself.
So, no repair. I would like to put off buying a new system until I get some book money in hand, so here's hoping the iBook holds up.

Date: 2008-10-12 09:02 pm (UTC)I'm sitting out on the deck, taking advantage of the sun and warm. It's supposed to cool off by the end of the week, and I doubt we'll see the 70s again after that. Although I am perfectly willing to be proved wrong.
