Three loads of laundry done. Found out the hard way that I had left a shopping list in a trouser pocket when I found bright yellow spitballs scattered throughout one load.

Shirts were pulled out when still damp to keep wrinkles from setting. Does anyone out there iron anymore? I haven't ironed in months, but some of the things I'm packing will likely need a pass or two once I get to the hotel. There's no point in ironing the stuff now, then folding it and mashing it with other stuff in a confined space. Yes, I know about packing with tissue paper--my Mom used to do that. I don't have the patience and I never found that it worked particularly well anyway.

Tomorrow, shopping--socks, non-aerosol hairspray. May look at walking shoes if I have the time. It's supposed to be a little cooler--lo 80s, maybe--which means I will also be mowing the back yard at some point. Temps are supposed to start spiking after that, which a possible 97F on Monday. No lawn mowing on that day.

I harvested the oregano plant the other day. Eight bundles of stalks/branches/whatever is the right term/ are now tied up in paper bags with holes punched in them. I'm supposed to check them in a couple of weeks. I'm also supposed to store the bags in a warm, airy room, which I don't have. The garage is *hot* and decidedly non-airy. The spare bedroom gets warm in the afternoon, but it's not particularly airy either. So, we'll see how this works. I'm sure I can live without homemade dried oregano, but I would like to see if it tastes any better than the storebought stuff.

I have an appointment tomorrow, and wondered why the place hadn't called to confirm. Phoned them to make sure of the time--the person who answered wasn't the one who called to confirm appointments, so she didn't know whether someone had phoned me or not. Called my home # just to see what happened, and after five rings found myself kicked over to a voicemail system instead of my homemade message. Thought for a minute, then checked the Comcast website to see if I had voicemail. Seems that I do, *and* I'm able to check phone messages online. So I did. Found messages dating back to last summer, which I guess were picked up whenever the landline answering machine tripped up. Found my appointment confirmation, and well as a days-old message from the vet's office that Mickey's ashes had been delivered. So after work, I stopped by and picked up the little guy. He's home now.

Denvention plans are slowly coming together. Looking forward to seeing folks, eating out, finding quiet places to sit and talk. I really need this getaway.

Ironing? What is this strange thing you call ironing?

I'm glad that Mickey's home, sad though that is...

Safe travels.

...just finished Code of Conduct. Thought it was great. Just sayin. :)

OK, this makes me feel better.

I am, too. Still can't quite grasp it.

Safe travels.

Thanks. A boring flight with no luggage loss would be nice.

Glad you liked it!

I ironed a pair of clamdiggers before going to SDCC. It was the first time in years i'd ironed anything, and when I was done I thought, "Wow, this looks really nice. I should iron things more often!" and then I thought, "Oh god, I'm my mother." :)

I will never be able to iron like my mother, which is one thing that discourages me. Even after I iron something, it still looks rumpled. At which point, 'what's the point? comes into play.

I could just tell folks I wear only fine linen...

Because I still work in wardrobe sometimes, I get paid to iron.

Actually, I iron quite a bit of my "real people' clothes -- especially in summer, when I wear a lot of cotton and linen.

The only iron worth having -- a Rowenta.

Have a great trip!

Hope to meet you in person at Worldcon. We picked up Jilly's ashes Thursday night. I'm still so sad I can hardly think. I'm hoping it gets better with time.

Oh, and I still Iron. I've worn out 5 irons in the time I've been married to beloved husband. I've kept the spray starch folks in business. It's a sickness.

::laughs:: I'm a quilter. I iron. I can do a lovely job on a shirt. But if it's not wash and wear, Hubby's not allowed to buy it. I have a few that I iron, but not many and not often.

Enjoy WorldCon!

I'll make a note for the next time I need to get an iron.

Thanks!
