I have my printers defined as shared printers. They are both plugged in to the USB hub, which is plugged into the Airport base station. I can't print anything. What did I not do?

According to a friend who knows something about the Airport Extreme Base Station project, there are continuing problems with the printer sharing. I can't make it work with mine, either. But it's killer good at its central function of being a wireless router.

Supposedly they're trying to iron out the kinks in firmware upgrades. Meanwhile, I plan to simply re-attach my printer to one of the desktop computers and share it over the network from there.

when you go to print is it asking you which one you want to use?

yes--I have to make a choice.

Some folks in my SFFNet newsgroups are saying that I need to have the printers physically connected to one of the computers so that it can act as a print server. I can try that later--if nothing else, I can connect the printers to the desktop and simply do all my printing from the desktop.

I'm just happy I have the wireless working...

I'm glad it's not just me. I tend to skim instructions and then try to hunt/peck through the set up assistants. so it's easy for me to miss steps.

I did download a firmware upgrade today, but it apparently did not help with this issue.

I have been able to direct it between printers and I'm pretty sure I have to select the printer before but truthfully it has been so long I'm damn rusty.

I would try opening the doc and pre-selecting where you want it to go. Then close that and try opening the Print and see if it is sorting to the right place.
