Mom will likely start radiation treatments tomorrow or Tuesday. All good thoughts appreciated.

King seems to be doing well. He's on three different stomach meds, and is keeping food down. Biopsy results in the next few days.

I hate the word "biopsy."

Biopsy is good when they say "Your biopsy is clear."

Thoughts and prayers are with you and your mom, Kristine.

Oh, yes.

Wishing you a calm and productive week. Hope your Mom handles the radiation well. (This is America -- they are so worried she will get hooked on painkillers, they won't give her any. Canada is looking better and better every day....)

Good thoughts and virtual hugs (if you'll have them) are coming your way.

Yeah, and "radiation treatment" isn't among my favorite phrases, either.

Good thoughts, and good wishes.

They're trying. The problem is the location of the main mass--too many nerves involved.

But I spoke to the radiation doc today, and about 80% of patients see at least some reduction in pain after treatment.

I'm coming face-to-face with too many things I never wanted to deal with. Then you find yourself in the middle of it all, and what can you do?

I'm trying to construct a Good Wish Dome over the hospital.

This sounds better than we might have hoped. How old is your Mom now, k? Had she been doing well before this hit?

Mom's 87. She'd been doing pretty well before this hit her--she was pretty active around the house. Able to negotiate the stairs to the basement. She has bronchial asthma, so she hasn't been able to do anything much outside for the past year or two.

I hope she can see well enough to enjoy the freedom that cable and the Internet can give her -- W's 93 year old F-I-L does the AARP puzzle, crossword and anagram every morning, and then works on his low score on SPIDER games before general browsing. He can't move around a lot, but between his computer and his cat, he's content.
