Weather wtf?

I wasn't sure what I'd see outside my door this morning. A foot of snow? An inch-thick layer of ice and downed lines?

Turned out to be kind of in-between. Temps rose above freezing overnight, and sleet changed to light rain. There an inch or two of frozen slush on the deck/sidewalks/driveway that is slowly melting. I better get outside and shovel away the ridge that the snowplow driver left at the end of my drive, or I'll be stuck with my very own speedbump if the temps drop.

It's messy, but it could have been worse...

Yeah, shovel it quick. At least around here, if you don't get rid of it fast, it'll still be there come April...

Sounds like the storm we got a week or so back, now glazed crust thick enough to support small children. Useless stuff.

Last night, folks were advised to stay home. The sleet started around early evening, and continued through the night. It's plain ol' raining now--I hope it defrosts and washes away the schluck that's still too frozen to shovel.

Both papers were late this morning, which gives me an idea what driving around Chicago was like overnight.

I shoveled what I could. It's raining now, which I hope will take care of the rest. half a shovelful weighs a ton. It's as if the world's biggest slurpee spilled over my driveway.
