A friend of mine calls it "Berger's Axiom of Disgust" - change never happens until the status quo is absolutely flat-out can't-face-another-minute intolerable.
Of course, sometimes your reach that point, and the universe doesn't up and roll out change for you... *that*'s not fun.
OTOH, just as I reached the point of considering ripping out my own liver as a more pleasant alternative to going to the evil day job, something just one notch better came right along. No fairy godmother solutions, just the next step back uphill.
I hope you find yours, and soon, and that it's at least a couple notches better.
And I won't even mention that it's been 90 degrees all week here in Phoenix... ;-)
