That's awesome. One day soon, I will be able to run again.

I'm starting with 30 minute walks.

And bicycling. I LOVE cycling.

Congrats! I usually do about 2, then I get bored.

I started with walking, then gradually increased the pace. Knee and ankle bungs over the years--I didn't want to aggravate them.

I have a bike, and tried cycling the year before last. I enjoyed it, but road riding is difficult around here because of the traffic, and, frankly, my butt gets too numb for comfort.

Frankly, without the iPod, I don't know if I'd have done it. Social Distortion and Stabbing Westward came on at just the right time.

That's more than likely a less than ideal saddle fit.

As for traffic? I counter bad road conditions with obscenely neon yellow (http://www.bikeworld.com/products/2211/1220/Louis-Garneau-Mens-Clear-Imper-Jacket-Yellow-Green.html?ref=froogle). It was my primary mode of transportation in the three months I was active duty when I got back from Kuwait. REALLY helped get rid of the weight I put on while I was there.

If only I weren't so less than motivated now. (;

The guy at the bike store actually switched out the seat that came with the bike for a better one. It's possible that I haven't adjusted seat height properly. I bought the padded shorts, but still. Numb butt.

I'm trying to fight back the vague beginnings of metabolic syndrome. Diabetes does not run in my fanily, but the cholesterol and triglycerides were not headed in the right direction. Down! Down!

Ooh, Stabbing Westward.

I once did a production of Romeo & Juliet wherein the fight between Romeo and Tybalt was done to "Save Yourself".

It was Quite The Thing. :)

I would have liked to have seen that.

"Save Yourself" is one of my running songs. "What Do I Have To Do?" is another.

It wasn't bad for high school Shakespeare, I think.

And I love that one too. :)

Congratulations! I'm very proud of you. The kid and I are planning to start our bike/run exercise this week (the rain's supposed to stop soon). She has a bike, but my hips won't let me walk like I used to (and oh, how I miss my long walks). She suggested I ride her bike and she run alongside. I really need to get a bike this year. Maybe I'll do that with my tax refund (however much that might be this time out).

I used to do a lot of 'writing' while on miles long walks.
