ksmith: (incident)

Received permission from the artist who illustrated Incident to use the illo as an LJ icon and show the artwork. The artist's name is Lee Kuruganti. Some of her work can be viewed here. Of those illustrations, I think Ghost Sea (page 2) is my favorite. The cover of Staticmovement VI (same page) is pretty neat, as well.

A larger version of the Incident illo is behind the cut.

Spent the day on this 'n' that. Some wild beast deposited something fascinating in the backyard, smack on a spot where I was trying to regrow the grass. Well, in their fascination with the area, King and Mickey have managed to chew out a hole a few inches deep and several inches across. I'll spare you the details concerning dirt ingestion and the effects on doggy digestion. All I'll say is that I needed to get them to stop eating the dirt. Soaking the area with Bitter Apple didn't help. Sprinkling chili powder didn't help. I finally dug some wire garden fencing out of the garage and built a barrier. Then I filled the holes with dirt and added some grass seed. It's likely too late for the grass to take hold, but the seed was old anyway so I'm not wasting anything by trying.

Finished installing the kitchen baseboards, including the nicely stained return cover. It looks great, even if I do say so myself. Still some odds and ends to do, but Baseboards Phase 1 is completed and I've bumped the paperwork to management for sign-off.

One more day of long weekend to go. Could use a month.

Very cool!

Though it does bring a whole new meaning to "Abs of Steel". :-)

I may have to take up drawing again, because I think the only way I'll ever see Jani in a baggy coverall is if I draw her myself.

But this is a neat illo. Lee read the story and enjoyed it, and put some of the details in the artwork.

I commented below. According to LJ, your comment didn't exist.

I like some of her other work, too. Apparently she's newish, but garnering some attention.

It's comic book-y, in a good way. Makes me think...

LJ does that to me quite often. I think it's some sort of bizarre record locking thing or maybe a cloning issue between servers. Who knows?

I can't *wait* for this to hit the shelves.

The shelves are virtual--you knew this was an online magazine, didn't you?

I think I'd forgotten it was online, but it's not out yet, is it?

December, which is...next week.

I don't know whether Universe sells individual issues, or if you need to subscribe for a full year.
