95F (35C) in the shade. Some of the hydrangea leaves have curled and blackened, as though I held a match beneath them.

I cleaned and filled the hummingbird feeders, even though I haven't seen any since the single fly-by of a few weeks ago. The levels in the feeders have dropped, but I'm inclined to think gravity is playing a role. I'd like to be proved wrong, though.

King has been inside this weekend, which has made for an interesting time. Very much like having a two year-old in the house, which makes it difficult to get any writing done. That being said, I've holed up in my office with the door closed. Things are currently quiet. Let it continue.

ETA: King didn't destroy anything, and I managed to get both checking accounts up to date. Also refilled the bird feeder that's in the shade. Shade means earwigs in the seeds and the outside of the feeder. When I take down the feeder, which is above the level of my head, things fall on me, then skitter away. It's all very Dario Argento.

A shorter snippet:

He seemed at first glance the sort of man one saw on Family fringes, a door opener and holder of the coats, all slicked silver hair and expensive tailoring.

It topped out at 95 here today, and the temperature is supposed to reach 97 tomorrow. I am beginning to regret my decison to not get the car's air conditioning fixed - the trip into work won't be bad, but I shudder to think what it is going to be like getting into a car that has been sitting in the full sun all day. Even blasting down the freeway with all four windows rolled down, the interior (and me) will still be baking when I reach home.

Both my vehicles have working A/C. You don't need it until you need it, but when you need it, you really need it.

Still expecting 90s tomorrow. Then come t-storms and a day's reprieve--80s! I will try to cut part of the lawn that day, because things are looking mangy. I thought the heat would slow down growth, but all it did was give everything that late summer raggedy appearance.
