ksmithEdging into the mess in the middle...
"Who taught you how to drive?" Niall flinched as the skimmer bounded over a pile of mud brick. "I ask only as a point of information. Please don't take it as criticism."
"My papa. My uncle Shamus." Jani pressed the accelerator to the floor and maneuvered across the construction site. The skimmer tremored, as though the motor wanted to escape its encasement and race to the meeting ahead of them. "Shamus always put me to work when I visited the lodge. Most times, my job was to go out on the moor and check the systems arrays. It went faster if I drove, and the faster I drove, the faster it went. Then I was free to go into town and look for trouble." She steered back onto the street, the skimmer shuddering as it reconnected with the municipal vehicle network.
"I can think of a few instances in my past where your driving skills might have come in handy." Niall's shoulders sagged a little as they entered Karistos proper and he sat back to take in the street life. "God, this place reminds me of Rauta Shèràa." He pulled out his nicstick case and ignited the first 'stick of the drive.

As Official Griller of the House, I can say that I smell kippered. Mickey's going mad with the smell of meat.
