Yeah---when a bit of writing goes sticky, the urge to do something so I can feel that something is getting done, and even finished, is strong. Perhaps luckily, I don't feel accomplishment in getting most household work done--I feel guilt that it had been left at all to do some writing. Thus it's easier to push certain things aside. But the things that don't give me guilt pangs (cooking, washing dishes, knitting) are always there, promising a hit of "I finished something" with every pot of good food, every clean sink, every sock.
