Not much going on in Kristine Smith land. I did post over at the BookView Café blog about the doggy DNA testing I had performed in order to find out Gaby’s mix. Suffice to say, I was surprised at the results.

It’s Alex Gordon work for the next week as I deal with JERICHO copyedits. Holiday prep will take place as well. So far, the weather has made it feel most unChristmassy. It’s around 30F now and blustery, but it’s possible that it may warm to the 50s and maybe even the 60s next week. No white Christmas.

I took a break from copyedits to bake cookies yesterday. Ina Garten’s Oatmeal-Raisin-Pecan, with added chai spice and toasted coconut. Whole wheat flour and wheat germ instead of white all-purpose. Have one–they’re great with coffee or tea.

Oatmeal raisin pecan toasted coconut whole wheat chai. Good cookies.

Thanks for the heads-up. I expected it, but wasn't sure when it would appear.

Those look delicious. I should dig out my great-grandmother's oatmeal cookie recipe for you. Chopped nuts, chopped raisins, and cocoa in them. The raisins release their chewy sweetness into the cookie better when cut in pieces, so the inside is chewy while the outside is crispy.

Loved the more recent and detailed info on Gaby's genetic mix. CHOW? Seriously? OK. that's another contributor to the 'independent' side. I am betting that the terrier part is something British. because of the eyebrows & the way the nose hair lies. Since my mother's last terrier was a Cairn, I'm going to go with that, but both Scotties & Westies have strong eyebrows, almost Gandalfian.

I would love the recipe. I always need to have the cookie jar filled. Cookies are a food group all by themselves as far as I'm concerned. :-)

I checked out the AKC's Cairn page--yes, I see the resemblance. I thought that the border terrier was also a decent option.

And with husky, beagle, and chow, we have three independent breeds. No wonder the techs at Gaby's playcare place say that "it's Gaby's way or the highway." Also, "Gaby does what Gaby wants."
