Yukon Gaby

The general Chicago area is supposed to get 1″ to 4″. I’m in a “locally heavier accumulations possible” region. Judging from the way it’s falling, I’m thinking “probable” instead.

I believe this is the storm that’s going to wind up and pitch itself all over the Northeast. You guys take care of yourselves.

Herself did finally deign to come inside, after a final patrol of the backyard. She and King have just lunched. It’s a dog’s life.

Your storm has to join up with one from the Gulf before it comes to bother us. Predictions range from a foot of snow to 2+ feet.

Gaby looks absolutely adorable with snow on her coat. What that did to the walls and floor when she came inside, I can only imagine...towels were involved, I bet. But aside from the ears, and maybe the small paws, the husky is strong in that one. Winter? What's winter to me, Queen of Snow?

I keep a stack of towels near the door, and have a few spread on the floor. I try to grab her as soon as she comes in, but she often squirts past me, shakes, and hurries into the living room. Sometimes, she jumps right up on the couch--luckily, it's slipcovered and covered with an old sheet. Snow sticks to and balls up in her coat, so she stays wet for a long time.

Gaby loves snow. As soon as she goes outside, she pushes her muzzle through it, rolls in it. If she has a choice between a bowl of fresh water and snow, she'll eat snow.

We wound up with 6-7 inches of heart attack snow. My snow thrower wouldn't start--I think the gas went bad--so I had to shovel. Two and a half hours later....

Gaby loves the snow, and her coat is thick enough to allow her to go sweaterless.

She looks so happy!

Stay warm and safe -- it's going to be a cold weekend.

Would it help to put her in the basement until she's dry? (You can tell I know nothing about basements except that they're mostly either unfinished or finished as playroom/workshop/laundry spaces--apparently--and thus less susceptible to the effects of a wet dog.)
