Kicking myself because I bid foolishly on eBay. My fault completely. Didn't read the item description as closely as I should have, and wound up paying about 4x what the item was worth because I set my ceiling too high and someone bid me up. We're not talking a lot of money here, but it's still irritating. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

You know that you've friended too many writers on LJ when you need to take breaks from reading posts to look up words in the dictionary. I know, I should have the damned thing memorized by now, but there you go.

Listening to the radio on the way home from work, had to laugh when the DJ dedicated a song to the Cubs pitching staff. The song? REM's "Everybody Hurts." And the regular season hasn't even begun. It's going to be a long summer.

Finished up my tax stuff. Mailed it out today. Go! Me!

The Seattle Mariners aren't looking so hot this spring training either. *sighs*

You'd think you could at least enjoy the first pitch of the season. But nooooooo...

Except you guys have enjoyed the services of Jamie Moyer lo these many years, Energizer Bunny of pitchers and FORMER CUB.

My fear is that they'll give the Walking Wounded (aka Wood and Pryor) the boot and the yo-yos will win Cy Youngs by the dozen for their new teams. Because there's something about that jersey with the "C" on it that saps the strength of the strongest arm.

Unless you're Greg Maddux, but let's not go there. Nice to know he came home to retire, isn't it? They're just going to let him pitch while he's doing it because WHO THE FUCK ELSE HAVE THEY GOT????

I'm ok now. I'll just drink my warm milk and go to bed...

Don't feel bad. Everyone we lose goes to the NY Yankees. The Yankees! I almost like them because they're really Mariners.

Now I like the Yankees, or at least I will as long as they have Tino Martinez. Do not ask me why, but I have always liked that man. He was hard to keep track of during his wandering years, after the Yanks let him go. But I was very glad that they re-signed him, and I hope he's with them again this year.

If not, I'll just have to default to the Red Sox again...

Yankees = The Enemy. :-)

I really love to watch Ichiro Suzuki. Amazing! (Except for the dud year last year).
I used to enjoy watching Olerude but he's gone too.
I'll be watching Sexon and Bloomquist and Winn if we still have Winn (I haven't checked the roster lately).

Now we have a bunch of youngsters I don't know.

Whereas here in San Francisco, Bonds the Juicer is alive and well. It won't help the Giants get a Series title though...

How do the Giants fans feel about him now? Are they on his side, or do they want him to quit, or what? I never got the impression that he was the most beloved of players, but I don't read SF sportswriters, so I don't know.

There are two camps: the Hear-No-Evil crowd ("He never failed a drug test!" Duh, they didn't test for steroids a couple of years ago) and the much more numerous Saddened-but-Realistic group. I haven't heard too many calls for him to quit in the Bay Area. Well, not counting those I've heard from fans of other teams.

I suspect both groups will applaud him when he homers, though.

Yankees?! Fah! Ptooie! Severe loathing. I spit on the Yankees.

Amy = Indians fan = the one team which has fans who can claim more heartbreak than Cubs fans.

If they keep Tino, I root for them. If they don't, I don't.

Te amo Tino.

Or is it Yo amo?

Whatever. Tino's my guy.

And according to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tino_Martinez, Tino announced his retirement last month. He will work as a broadcaster for ESPN.

So, yet another reason to watch baseball on ESPN. And there went my reason to root for the Yankees.
