Saturday morning, with coffee
Mar. 26th, 2011 08:58 amI really like my new Technivorm. It does use a little less coffee, and makes a very smooth brew. And it's hot--I can warm my hands on my coffee cup again without having to stick said cup in the microwave first.
Took a day off from the day job yesterday. Didn't do as much as I had wanted, but I like what I did get done. Today is a grocery-shopping & haircut day. Still unseasonably cold--30s--with flakes drifting through the air. Supposed to stay this way through midweek. Oh, I want the warm back.
Still using FF. The MacBook still runs harder when I play videos, but it doesn't labor as much. FF runs much faster than does Safari, and it doesn't choke on ads. Sorry, Safari. I greatly prefer some of your features, but not enough to want to deal with the chokeage, even with an adblocker in place. Learn to deal with the world you have, not the one you want.
I also installed MacKeeper, which cleans out junk files among other things. It freed up 1.3G of space on the MacBook, which is significant. System is running faster, and so far I'm not missing anything. IOW, don't think it tossed anything I needed.
I know that's not a ringing endorsement, but there is a way I believe to evaluate what it tosses before it tosses it. As long as Word and Scrivener still work and the wips back up properly, I'm good. All my other important stuff is on the cloud.
As of last week, I am fairly certain the garage is mouse-free. There are still a couple of small boxes of junk that need to be cleaned out, but nothing is lurking in them now so they can wait. Kuro has his room back, the garage floor is the cleanest it's been since I've lived here, and I no longer hear rustling when I open the door. If a tiny guerrilla mouse with vengeance on its mind is gnawing on Kuro's wiring as I type, welp, I'll find out eventually.
