*damn*

I went out to the garage during lunch to check the trap. One more mouse away, for a total of 10 or 11. There are a few more to go. I can hear them rustling.

The bad news is that when I moved a box in which some of the critters had settled, I saw how they managed to get inside in the first place--they had chewed through one of the boards near the foundation. I found two such holes.

I knew that I would have to spend some money on the garage this spring. It's been a process. Two years ago, new roof. Last year, eaves and soffits. This year, looks like it will be the lower frame, all the way around. I should throw in a new side door as well. And a new opener.

The problem is two-fold. The garage is old, possibly thirty years old, and it's just a frame shell. In addition, it's on a low area of the lot, and the boards in question have taken a few soakings over the years, especially during thaws. I'm probably lucky that the garage has lasted this long.

So, probably next month I will start getting estimates. In the meantime, I will clean the place out and keep trapping.

The joys of home ownership. Yeah.
