The day after the day
Feb. 3rd, 2011 06:28 pmSnow plow guy did my driveway at 430am.
I had called much earlier to see if he would be able to make it before the Thursday workday began, and he had said he would try for 6pm or so. I was working out around 6pm, with earbuds, so I wouldn't have heard him. But I saw headlights, and thought he had come. Then I let the pups out at 1130pm, and thought the driveway looked suspiciously snowy. Figured I would be working from home today.
But, he came. He drove. He plowed. He also shoveled the narrow passage to the garage, which was very nice of him. That just left me with the front walk, which had 3-ft drifts in some spots. But, that's clean now. All set for the next expected snow on Monday.
Roads are decent now. Two lane roads are down to 1.5 lanes because of the snow piled alongside, but other than that, they're mostly fine. There are areas covered with those thin layers of packed snow, and that's treacherous. Saw a couple of cars in ditches as I drove the short stretch of expressway on the way to work. One had just spun out, I think, given that the hazard lights were still flashing.
I think I'm going to make chili this weekend. Abomination chili, as far as purists are concerned. I will add beans--kidney, black, garbanzo--corn, peppers. Beer. Two pounds of the Flying S ground beef. Should be good, but then I'm a fan of a good abomination. I like flavored bagels, too. And ketchup on my hotdogs.
