1) It's Monday. First day of vacation...working vacation...but still. Monday.

2) Had to get up just as early as I would have if I had gone to work since I needed to take Kuro in for an oil change/tire rotation. The good news was that on the way in, I found a slip in the glovebox that entitled me to a free oil change. The savings were not insignificant. Hope this presages the rest of the year.

3) The bad news was that since I got to bed late and needed to get up early, I ignored Gaby when she indicated quite emphatically that she wanted to go outside. Given that she had been outside a half-hour before, I figured she had heard an animal and wanted to go after it. I heard her leave the bedroom, then return a minute or so later. After I awoke, I went into the living room to find that she had left quite an accident in her usual spot, the first one in months. My bad. My fault. If I had gotten my ass out of bed and let her out, it wouldn't have happened.

4) At least for now, I like working with the radio on. Classical station, mostly music. But every so often, voices, which I don't mind. They're voices I don't have to respond to, which make them almost like coffee shop voices or office voices. So, I'm not engaged, but I'm also not alone. That seems to be the way this wip wants to roll.

5) It's no fun watching the Blackhawks this year. It was different before they won the Cup--they were a young team, and the ups and downs were to be expected. There were expectations, but there was also a certain lack of pressure. Now the pressure is there, but half the team is gone and the replacements either haven't settled in yet, or are the wrong replacements. The injuries don't help. Yes, I know all teams suffer through them. They still don't help.
