ksmith: (gold leaf)
The usual. Errands. Grocery shopping. I checked out the new Fresh Market in Lake Forest. It looks like Whole Paycheck writ small. But they had a good sale on wild sockeye, so I treated myself. Between that and the recent beef/chicken haul, I shouldn't need to buy meat/fish/poultry for a while. Months, maybe.

I heart my deep freeze.

Speaking of the beef/chicken, I think I cricked the hell out of my neck when I hauled in the bags. Right side of neck is stiff, and I can't turn around all the way. Shoulder is tight. Go me.

Scrubbed the bathroom, a chore that included changing rugs and installing a New! Toilet! Seat! I don't know why it gets so blasted dusty in there. Tissue fibers? It's ridiculous.

We had a true hard freeze last night, which rang down the curtain on the bell peppers and basil. I harvested a total of half a dozen bells from the three plants in the raised bed, which was a decent haul considering that they really didn't take off until I cleared out the tomatoes back in September. There are a few small peppers left, but I think they're way too immature to eat. Tomorrow I'll cut down all the dead plants. Clean out the hanging baskets. I may even cover the A/C. No word about when the first snows will arrive, but I would expect something to fall from the sky in the next couple of weeks.
