I left the windows open during the night, and this morning my room was a bracing 59F. Wonderful sleeping weather...if the pups had let me sleep in.
Today will be coolish. 70F. Warming up tomorrow, and back to the heat on Monday. I will be spending as much time out on the deck as possible. Taking advantage as the summer winds down, then up, then down again.
The autumn stuff is showing up in the grocery stores. The one I visited this morning had some of the strangest-looking stuff I have ever seen. Very Tim Burtonish. I bought a small stylized thing that was labeled a pumpkin but looks more like a squash:

I was going to move the doggy bones, but thought they added to the weird tone...even the unfortunately-shaped ones.
There were a few things at the store that seriously creeped me out. I have never had an issue with clowns--I always laughed at them as a kid, and never felt scared. But there were some largish--14" tall--figurines that I would not have liked to have had in my house. They were dressed in clown clothes, the one-piece bloomer jumpsuit gathered at wrists and ankles, but instead of clown heads they had heads like jack-o-lanterns, and not happy bright orange obvious jack-o-lanterns. Imagine a jack-o-lantern covered in whiteface. Very subdued colors, dull white and black with muted accents, as though they were old, and had been passed down. Not gross, or horrible, or garish in any way. Just...quietly creepy.
I was drawn to them. But I opted for the pumpkin.
