...and I am sitting out on my deck in shorts, shirtsleeves rolled up. I wrote this morning, then took a break around 1pm to prep the raised bed and the deck planter. Oddly enough, the chives I planted last year survived the winter in both venues--I moved the deck planter chives to the raised bed, and planted 5 kinds of basil seeds in the planter. It may be a little early for them. I have extras if these fail to grow. Stretched some chicken wire over the top to--I hope--keep out the squirrels.

Added peat moss to the raised bed and tilled the soil. Pulled weeds. Tomorrow, the lettuce seeds go in.

It's a little too bright out here for the Macbook display. The sand cherry that provides shade for the deck hasn't leafed yet. I have a beat-up old wooden table out here that I use when I repot plants--it actually has moss growing on it. But it also has the holes to hold an umbrella. I may need to invest in one.

I'm going to try to write out here anyway. I hate to stay inside when it's so nice out.
