Router Fail

I haven't had home wireless capability for some months now. I didn't do anything about it because having the internet access in hardwire mode kept me from wasting as much time online as I had been. But I miss it. I don't like it not working, and I can't work the day job from home without wireless.

I spent some time this morning resetting, rebooting, shutting down and starting up, to no avail. My Extreme Base Station is not allowing internet connection or assigning IP addresses. What is weird is that it works locally--I can wirelessly save to my external back-up drive from a laptop. I just can't go online.

I've had the cable modem hooked up to the MacBook for months now, with zero dropped connections. I believe that points to the router as the issue. So I have a date with the Genius Bar on Sunday morning. Maybe they can fix it, but peripherals rate as essentially disposable these days, so maybe they won't bother. If they find that the router is kablooey, I'll be getting a new one.

Weather. I don't know about this particular Snowpocalypse. It looks kinda fizzley now--only a couple of inches on the ground. I may go out and shovel later. The snow is supposed to pick up tonight, which means I may be shoveling waaay early tomorrow morning because of course I have a training class at 7am.

A Gaby who is in the process of killing a mouse is a Gaby who will not come when called.

The first thing Gaby does when she goes out in the snow is rub her face in it. She just walks along and plows through the stuff with her nose, sending it into the air. By the time she's made a few passes, her face is covered--she looks like she's wearing a skull-mask. Didn't have the camera on me when I needed it.

I haven't seen Gaby drink water for weeks. Outside, she eats snow. Inside, she chews the snowballs off her coat. Between that and the new diet of wet food, I guess she's sufficiently hydrated.

King has nothing to add, except to remind us all that he is still The King. We've only been inside a few minutes, and he's already snoring. He'll be 9 years old next month.

Just finished shoveling. Wonderful neighbor with snow thrower came by just as I was finishing the snowplow dam and did the top of my Y-shaped drive while I finished off the bottom. I think he saved me a good hour. Must bake cookies.

The thing that hurts is that we are supposed to get lake effect overnight, which means I could be looking at the same mess tomorrow morning. ::spits::

Dinner time. Warmed-up chicken, I think. Salad. Wine.
