ksmith: (gold leaf)
Outside, on the deck, sheltered from the brunt of the sun from an overgrown sand cherry. It's warmer than I expected, although it's likely due to the humidity. Pups are out on the lawn, gnawing bones. I bought some yellow and white mums for the front yard planter, but I am determined not to plant them until tomorrow. Today, need to write. Later, I will try my hand at homemade pizza. OK, the crust will be from a package--just add hot water. But I'll be assembling the rest myself.

The Black Crim plants are really beaten up. I may have to pick the remaining tomatoes and put them in bags to ripen. And I needed to put a screen over the deck planter because someone got into it and dug holes, scattering lettuce sprouts in the process. I patted stuff down as best I could--I dumped a lot of seed in there, so I don't think I need to add more. Salvaged some of the sprouts. I'll keep watering, and see what comes up. I have another package of lettuce seeds, but I wanted to save those for Spring.

Already thinking about Spring. I'm seeing more and more sugar maple vermilion. Burning bush red. Not ready at all.

Lots of vitriol posted in comments responding to Josh Olson's rant "I Will Not Read Your F------ Script" But then came this supportive post from David Gerrold:

Josh is being way too polite. The only proper response when an amateur attempts to hand you his manuscript, his screenplay, his unpublished novel, his short story, his treatment, his outline, his notes, is to take an axe to his laptop, follow him home, burn down his house, and salt the ground.

Short form: A friend of his almost lost a job as the result of the simple act of reading an email requesting his aid.
