Saturday afternoon
Sep. 12th, 2009 01:24 pmOutside, on the deck, sheltered from the brunt of the sun from an overgrown sand cherry. It's warmer than I expected, although it's likely due to the humidity. Pups are out on the lawn, gnawing bones. I bought some yellow and white mums for the front yard planter, but I am determined not to plant them until tomorrow. Today, need to write. Later, I will try my hand at homemade pizza. OK, the crust will be from a package--just add hot water. But I'll be assembling the rest myself.
The Black Crim plants are really beaten up. I may have to pick the remaining tomatoes and put them in bags to ripen. And I needed to put a screen over the deck planter because someone got into it and dug holes, scattering lettuce sprouts in the process. I patted stuff down as best I could--I dumped a lot of seed in there, so I don't think I need to add more. Salvaged some of the sprouts. I'll keep watering, and see what comes up. I have another package of lettuce seeds, but I wanted to save those for Spring.
Already thinking about Spring. I'm seeing more and more sugar maple vermilion. Burning bush red. Not ready at all.
