Cranky. As in tired two year old cranky. I just dawdled too long last night, working on an informational post for another group while watching Goblet of Fire for the umpteenth time, followed by the Dr Who "Runaway Bride" episode--which had some decent acting but the worst monster ever and yes I'm including the cut up bits of carpet from earlier years(1)--followed by an episode of MI-5 (aka Spooks). Post took much longer than it should have. Got to bed around quarter to one, and read for a bit. Just a page or two from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which I then set aside for The Graveyard Book. Unlike most folks here, I haven't read much Gaiman. Good Omens. Coraline. But TGB begins with a horrible act, and then I was sucked in and I made myself stop after a few pages and left all those whys and who's behind. Visions of a tiny figure tottering along.

I need more than 5 hours of sleep a night, that's all there is to it.

Tried to work out after I came home, and gave it up after 15 minutes. Let's just say that there are other reasons behind the tired and the cranky and I really wish they'd adjust themselves ANY TIME NOW.

Achy, too. Tired, cranky, achy.

We'll leave the chainsaw in the garage tonight.

Dinner was a mishmash, leftover chili mixed with leftover sauced pasta. The sort of dinner you eat over the sink, except I topped it with shaved parmesan and poured a glass of Cab and ate out on the deck. It rained this morning, but it's lovely now, high 70s and breezy enough to blow the mosquitos away. If it stays this warm, I should have a good handful of cherry tomatoes tomorrow or Wednesday, which will mean a very nice salad...unless I buy some asparagus and do some broiling.

There are birds out here. And flowers. The pups are playing. I should come out here more often.

(1) the monster was well-constructed. But you could tell that she couldn't move because the whole thing was so complicated and I'm sorry, but over-acting. And just lame.
