Still raining
Mar. 8th, 2009 12:47 pmShould continue until midafternoon. After that, the winds will pick up and the temps will drop. More rain on Tuesday, then more cold. Winter won't be giving up without a fight.
Hate losing that hour to DST. Piled out of bed a little before 8, except the clock said it was a little before 9. Kicked myself out the door to do grocery shopping. I usually like grocery shopping, but not today, a combination of the weather, the resulting rushed feeling, and odd sensations in my ears and throat that could be weather-related, but could also presage a cold.
It's a sloppy joes for dinner kinda day.
A few peals of thunders sounded earlier, which sent King in search of someplace safe. When the wood boxes that bracket the fireplace are empty, he usually crawls in one of those. But they're both filled with wood, so King instead wedged between the couch and the coffee table. Repeated hugs were required before he would settle down. Gaby, meanwhile, acted as though nothing unusual was going on.
No basement seepage as of yet. The rain has been hard at times, but not continuous, which I guess gave the ground time to catch up. The last line of showers before the cold front pushes through is supposed to be nasty, though, so we'll see if the good luck continues. Be great if it did.
UPDATE: Hah! So much for that. The last line of showers did it. There are even tornado watches farther south.
Nothing new to report on the writing front. Research books arrived, but I need to finish up some business stuff before I get to them. Then the slow, steady slog will begin once more. That's writing, slog interspersed with odd moments of sheer panic.
