A murder of crows
Jan. 4th, 2009 03:18 pmHeard a ruckus overhead as I was toting in wood for the fire. Looked up in time to see a hawk alight atop my old TV aerial--I have a really tall one--then take off immediately as it was set upon by 5-6 crows, which chased it out over the woods.
It's a raw day. The winds have picked up from the NW, and temps have dropped from the mid 30s to around freezing. The sun peeks through occasionally, but doesn't stay for long. Prior to that, the comparatively mild temps + rain+ no snow cover combined to make for just enough mud to dirty up puppy paws and undersides, so the floor's a bit of a mess. And now it's all freezing, which means the backyard will be a skating rink. But hey, it's supposed to snow in a couple of days, and that will make it all better.
Oh well. Indoor woodboxes are filled. The rack on the deck, about halfway.
Last day of holiday vacation. Rats.
