Snowy Sunday this 'n' that
Nov. 30th, 2008 03:51 pmA dank rotter of a day. We're under our first Winter Storm Warning, with up to 6 inches expected by tomorrow. But it's warmer near the lake, so it's falling as rain here for now, with the occasional flake as a reminder. Maybe we'll get less than what's called for, or maybe it will all stay rain. But just in case, I cleaned the last few flower pots and such off the deck. Filled the woodboxes. Maybe I'll build a fire later, just to brighten things up.
UPDATE: they kicked Lake County IL down to a Winter Weather Advisory. Less than 6 inches expected, lowest amounts near the lake thanks to moderating temps. So, muddy, schlucky mess instead of snow. Guess that's OK. Mud can freeze.
So many folks put up their Christmas lights yesterday. I didn't. Too busy writing. But I did bring up one of the lighted wreaths today, and hung it over the fireplace. It will likely be all the decorating I do until the middle of the month, but I wanted to do something. It looks nice.
Baked banana bread. Dinner was a fried lamb chop and oven fries, very health conscious. I've kinda lost my taste for potatoes over the years, but sliced/tossed with olive oil/baked unto crisp and sprinkled with dill? Very nice. Ketchup would be a crime.
I have reworked the beginning of the wip. It bothered me that it took me close to half the book to get protag where she needed to be. I've managed to whittle that 280-odd pages down to 156 by excising the dead plotline and rewriting/tightening, and I think things move much faster now. Still much to do. The next two weeks will be crazy. These are the two weeks during which I should have taken leave. Kicking ourselves now, yes.
Writing still, on this last day of the four-day weekend. Where did the time go?
