ksmith: (teashop)
Almost through Week 2 of early-to-rise-and-write. I try to hit 500 words, but I don't always, so I try to make it up in the evening. Progress is progressing. About 6800 words since Monday the 2nd. I'm using a different font for this draft, a proportional font called Palatino, which means that a page without much dialogue can run more than 350 words. So, assuming 275 words/page, about 24 pages. I definitely need to pick up the pace, but it's better than I was doing.

After the rains of last week, I was hoping that we wouldn't see any more for a while. Unfortunately, we're currently under Tornado Watch, and waiting to see whether the line of thundershowers that is so far slipping from Iowa into Wisconsin will slide east and hit Yours Truly. Heavy rain a possibility tonight or tomorrow.

I took half a day's vacation to mow the backyard, which exploded thanks to the last round of rains. It's all done. I even got out the trimmer and cut the grass around rocks and such. Showered, then got some grocery shopping out of the way. Dinner--a nice chef's salad.

And...we have tomato seedlings! Four or five so far. Hoping for more.
