I can't believe that almost a week has passed since Wiscon. That we're almost in June, and that in a few weeks the days will start getting shorter.

::tries not to think about it::

So I apparently avoided the contagion, for which I am oh so grateful.

Capped off the con by shooting pool with [livejournal.com profile] tobiasbuckell, as part of a crowd that included [livejournal.com profile] klages, [livejournal.com profile] matociquala, [livejournal.com profile] truepenny, Kate Schaefer and her husband, and a gentleman who I see every year at Wiscon and who I would have sworn was Scott Custis except that he's not.

Because I suck at names.

I ate a bisonburger. Toby gave me tips on shotmaking. It was just plain fun, and a great way to end the con. Hope to do something similar at Denvention.

Came home to find that the lawn had grown 6 inches in a week. Twenty minutes after I pulled in the driveway, I was in the backyard with the mower.

So this morning, around 630a, I was awakened by a slipper in my face. King stood bedside, slipper in mouth. Mickey has now taken to standing in the doorway to lend moral support. Every time I walked anywhere near the back door, much excitement ensued because, you know, WALK!!

They let me eat breakfast, then out we went. One hour of competition peeing and sniffsniffsniff, during which I realized that if today was any indication, it will be a nasty summer for mosquitoes. Saw some rabbits, which doesn't happen often given the feral cats and coyotes in the area. Spotted one of the neighborhood hawks soaring overhead. I'll try a different route tomorrow morning. Maybe I'll see deer and coyote.

I finally got around to planting my special order heirloom tomato seeds today, something that I should have done about 5-6 weeks ago. I planted them in one of those special starter trays, and hope that in July I will be able to transfer them to the deck planter. I hope I manage to get at least a few tomatoes out of this exercise. Still need to plant some herbs. Here's hoping for a long, hot summer.

Hope hope hope.

Much work to do in the coming months. Much, much work.

But now, THE BOURNE IDENTITY. A ship's doctor just took a bullet out of Matt Damon's back. Ow.

I'll be trying to grow three different varieties of heirloom tomatoes. Black Crimson, because it stated specifically that they're suitable for deck containers. Sunset Red Horizon, because it was stated in the blurb that they're frost-resistant.

Then there are these Tobolsk, which they threw in as a bonus. I've never tried yellow tomatoes, but I'll see how they grow.
