Busy Saturday
Feb. 16th, 2008 04:24 pmIt began with the usual--King trying to wake me up around 7ish by shoving my slipper-clog in my face. Then he dumped it in the bedroom wastebasket. He did dig it out though, because he's a Good Puppy.
Up. Breakfast. Then to the Northbrook Apple store to pick up the iMac w/ new power supply. Then grocery shopping. Managed to forget green grocery bags even though they were sitting right next to me, in the passenger seat. I think I need to hang them around my neck before I leave the house.
Home before noon.
Chipped ice off driveway, but couldn't get it all. We are supposed to get rain/freezing rain/ who knows? tonight into tomorrow. My hope is that it stays rain, and melts all the ice and snow. Unfortunately, they don't know where the rain/snow line will fall, so I don't know if I'm in for an ice storm, thunderstorm, or snow up to my armpits. Winter in Illinois...is getting old, fast.
I shoveled a short stack of papers off my desk to make room for the iMac, and decided to give the Airport Extreme set-up one more shot before digging into the tax paperwork. Welp, I did it! I now have wireless w/ password *and* an office server, so I can save work to the Back-up from any of the systems. I don't know why things finally clicked, and I couldn't tell you exactly what I did if you paid me heaps and heaps. One thing that had complicated matters was the fact that I had forgotten the password I had given the network when I tried to set it up before. Couldn't find it anywhere. Then I started working through the set-up assistant, and found the lovely Show Password command. So now I know what it is, and have recorded it in a place where I can find it again.
I have a working network. Wow. Can't wait to see how many ways this can blow up in my face.
Now I really should get started on tax paperwork. I need to compile everything for the accountant this month, since the 70 Days of Sweat thing starts on March 1. If I can finish a draft of the wip before Wiscon, I will be absolutely insufferable for at least a week.
