ksmith: (snowflakes)
Around midmorning, we had about 5 minutes of one of the nastiest snow squalls I have ever seen. Couldn't see the building next door kind of squall, with the snow pellets bouncing off the windows.

Then 5 minutes later, the sky was bright blue and sunny...just like it was 5 minutes before the squall hit.

We did dip into the 30s overnight. Some places had freeze warnings. Roofs were snow-coated this morning. We're supposed to warm into the 50s by the weekend, but today was the first day for the gloves and wool scarf.

It's October 12th, for crying out loud.

Of course, the day we hit record low temps with occasional snow squalls is the day my building has its quarterly surprise disaster drill. They let us huddle in the walkway between two buildings. That was nice of them. I had grabbed my coat and gloves Just in Case.

Editor emailed to ask about Jani's clothing with regard the proposed cover. Over the course of the back-and-forth, I learned that she's about 100 pages into ENDGAME and enjoying it. She has a couple more books to edit before she can dig in, so I have a couple more weeks of freedom.

Except of course that GIDEON is yapping in my ear, and I have checkbooks to balance and baseboards and such...

From what I hear, the proposed cover involves a desert scene with at least one knife. It will not be a JP Targete cover as he no longer does book covers, but I will be surprised if they don't find someone with a similar style.
