Why does the damned last act take so blithering long to wrap up?

But, we have achieved finished draft of Incident. Final count: 131 pages/27339 words.

Not completely happy with the last few scenes, and I still need to address some of the comments from beta readers. But the draft is done. Now I can set it aside until, I don't know, Monday. Between now and then, I'll deal with the elephant in the room.
