Expecting the unexpected since 1972

When I got into Kuro after work today, his outdoor thermometer read 101F. Things had cooled down to a balmy 100F by the time I pulled into my driveway. Cool front is supposed to roll through tomorrow evening. Come on, Cool!

Spent all the work day in training, and emerged with renewed certification for CPR and First Aid. CPR (along with defibrillator) lasts for two years, and the first aid for three. The idea of ever having to use this training scares the bejeepers out of me, but I always figured it was a good thing to have. A good thing on the research side, as well.

So, J5 news. The release format will be mass market pb. The release date has been pushed out to September '07, which I expected given the fact that for it to make an April release, they would have needed the completed manuscript today. What I didn't expect was the comment from my editor that a release date of September meant a cover conference of, like, tomorrow, and did I have any thoughts?

Some of the story takes place around Rauta Shèràa, which means desert. And there are knives involved. Whether we wind up with something more like CI, or more in line with the first three covers, well, I'll know when I know. I know what I'd like, and I told my editor, and you might be surprised (or not), and I'll laugh if I get it.
