Still rewriting Chapter 2. I didn't expect this sort of beginning, but it seems to be serving the purposes it needs to.

Spent some of the afternoon raking the front and side yard, winding up filling about 11 of those 30 gal yard waste bags. The crocuses are blooming, small purple and white flowers that show up so clearly against the brown and light green. Some of them wound up in places I most assuredly did not plant them, for which I can no doubt thank the squirrels.

I was able to get some plotting done while I raked. It figures that once again, I have figured out a POV character mere months before the book is due. This time it was Torin who was giving me trouble. I knew what he wanted, and what he was thinking, The way Ch 2 shook out showed the reader what he's about. But he needed a crisis moment, and I finally figured out what it will be.

In other news, something cute happened yesterday that I neglected to mention. The neighbors have a Weimaraner pup that has reached the gangly adolescent stage--all knobby legs and ears. He goes into that bouncy trot that those dogs have, which makes it look like he had spring-loaded knees.

Anyway, the boys were running around in the backyard yesterday playing tag with a small log that King had swiped from the woodpile. After a while, King brought me the log--it was small enough to throw, so we played fetch for a time. I knew the Weimaraner was in his backyard watching us. At one point, I looked at him and found that he had picked up a branch and was standing there looking at me. It was so pathetically Awwwwwww--the branch was only as thick as my pinky and he looked like such a goof as he stood there with it in his mouth.

No slam against his owners--they take care of their dogs and never ignore them. But it was just so...you just wanted to hug the little guy.
