Writing during lunch, Part 2
Mar. 30th, 2006 12:19 pmOver the course of several lunch breaks, I've managed to tote up over 2200 words on Incident. Still writing in that weird layering way I'm also employing with Jani 5. I've laid out several key scenes from beginning to end. Now I'm tucking in more key scenes between them, along with bits of business and background. No clue yet as to how long it will be. I think, though, that it won't be as long as I thought it might be, if that makes sense.
I don't believe I'd approach the story this way if I hadn't already written so much about Jani. There's so much backstory to tuck in, and I need to make sure I spread it out. Funny, but I think I'm laying it out as I would have if I'd used the card bleachers, setting out the high points and gradually filling in. Sketching out the gesture, then adding the details. Maybe I'm a sort of natural outliner after all.
I need to check old emails, but I'm pretty sure I need to finish this during April. Amazing how much shorter April looks on a calendar layout when compared to March. I know there's only a day's difference between them, but it seems like so much more.
