Seen this morning: an older woman walking to her car, bearing a cup of coffee from the local coffee shop, nicely dressed in a plummy brown outfit capped off by a headband from which sprouted a pair of small antlers.

Tomorrow is my last official day at the day job until March 3, 2006. Two months of leave, to be spent hammering/cobbling/tweaking/forcefeeding/ramrodding J5 into reasonable shape. The goal is to have a solid draft for beta readers by the end of February. I am hoping that it's solid enough that it won't require major editing after it goes to editor, but she is good at zeroing in on the weak subplots and asking the questions that lead to serious rewriting.

I know that's her job, but damn.

And you know what's scary? I know just how quickly those two months are going to fly.
