I hope folks don't mind, but I wanted to plug a developing program that a friend is in the process of putting together that I think has a lot of promise.

Judith Tarr [livejournal.com profile] dancinghorse, a writer of historical fantasies and some Luna titles, will be developing some Horses for Writers classes, to begin beta-testing in early 2006.

She runs a Lipizzan farm in Tucson AZ (Dancing Horse Farm), and would offer the opportunity for writers to learn about horses, from the grooming and riding aspects to horse psych issues and other matters that can crop when when you're dealing with large herd animals with distinct personalities. This could prove helpful for historical or fantasy writers, or anyone who wants to make horses a significant part of a work and isn't sure how to go about learning what they need to make it look realistic.

In addition to the Horses for Writers program, there will be Lipizzan Weekends for folks who just plain love the breed and would like to get to know some up close and personal.

Judith is also offering mentoring opportunities for writers. This work would be done online--I would like to let Judith provide details. Her email address is capriole at smoe dot org. If you would like more information for yourself or a friend, please email her, or check her LJ.

If timing allowed, I would be signing up for the Horses for Writers thing in a split second.
