...and my NaNoWriMo goal recedes ever farther in my rear view mirror.

WFC officially began yesterday. I was able to check in early, get my goodie bag of books (lots and lots of books), then muck around until the 3pm Medicine for Writers panel, which I liked a lot. Spoke with Lisa Freitag afterwards about something I wanted to add in a J5 scene--she doesn't think it will work as is, but maybe with some tweaking... Oh pooh--we both agreed that what I have in mind is a Nice Touch (tm), but it may not be medically sound.

After that came my reading, which to my surprise was attended by Julie Czerneda, along with friends Ruth Stuart and a very nice lady whose name I can't recall Ihatethat!(UPDATE: Jana, a name that I should find easy to remember). Anyway, the Jani-Niall chapter I read seemed to go over well, which pleased me because I really like it.

Break for dinner, then the Bathroom Panel. [livejournal.com profile] ccfinlay already discussed how it went--I'm glad it seemed to go well. It was certainly fun.

After that, Freedom! Wandered down to the bar with [livejournal.com profile] pbray with the intention of grabbing a drink, sitting for a short while, then wandering back upstairs for the cooking panel at 10. Oh well. We were joined by other folk--[livejournal.com profile] arcaedia, [livejournal.com profile] mcurry, [livejournal.com profile] matociquala, [livejournal.com profile] katallen, [livejournal.com profile] jaylake, and others. By the time we threw in the towel, it was after midnight, the coach had turned back into a pumpkin, and I was really, really beat.

Art was committed today. Wasn't even planning on it, which made it sort of inevitable, I guess. I purchased a Kinuko Craft print of her Turandot painting, and bid on one of her Sleeping Beauty prints. I'm the first bidder for the SB, and frankly I'm not optimistic about my chances. But at least I have the Turandot, which will look lovely in my living room.

Taking a break now. May wander down to the bar later, or simply veg until dinner with editor. After that comes the mass autographing session.

So far, a good con.
