*whew*

I did go to the Farmers Market. Of course by the time I went outside, the blue, partly cloudy sky had altered to something grey, almost fully cloudy, and rainspitting to boot. Not enough rain to get one wet, but enough to let one know that this state of affairs could change at any time and you did leave your brollie up in your room, didn't you?

Anyway, a hard rain held off. I merged with the crowd circling the Capitol, and found a farm stand featuring tomatoes. I hope they taste like farm tomatoes and not the cardboard things you find in the store. Here's hoping.

Took a walk. Dawdled. First panel came along, the Villains one. Unfortunately, Elisabeth Vonarburg didn't make it to the con this year, so I didn't get to pass on [livejournal.com profile] scarlettina's hello. But Robin McKinley did join us as a walk-on, which was cool. And she likes John le Carre! Overall, a good panel.

What next...? Along with other writers, talked to the Broad Universe folks about ways they could expand their services for mid-career writers. Adjourned for drinks and talk, and wound up missing the Tiptree Auction, something I haven't done in a few years. Missed visiting the Art Show as well. What can I say?

Sunday... The Burn-Out discussion went well--I hope some people got something out of it that they could use to help them through rough patches. Did stuff I forgot. Then came the Dessert Buffet/GoH speeches. After that, dash off a few minutes late to the 10pm panel on Worldbuilding with Ellen Kushner and [livejournal.com profile] truepenny. I thought it went well--we laughed, the audience laughed, *and* [livejournal.com profile] truepenny told me of a paper discussing Mannerism, including discussion of the psychology of the period (I hope I'm getting that right) which will be very helpful when it comes to the fantasy I hope to write. Aftrwards, cruised the LJ party for a time, then crashed.

Monday--the Sign-Out. Hey, people brought me books to sign, always a good thing. After that, a few minutes to sign any books remaining in the Dealers Room, then off to the Mid-Career Writers Discussion, where we discussed Life, the Universe, and how it affected our work, etc. Then off to the Bar to meet folks--spent the rest of the day socializing and watching baseball. Cubs Win!!

Up early. Drive home. Weather lovely. Pick up pups from kennel/groomers, and realize that nothing beats a greeting bestowed by two dogs that are Happy! to see their person. Mickey is now completely sacked out on his pillow, and the King is outside patroling the grounds and making sure nothing has gone to bits in his absence.

Tomorrow, it's lawn mowning and grocery shopping. Glad I decided to take the extra day off.
