But One Has to Start Somewhere

1) Rode an elephant.
2) Been stalked in Berlin (ok, I was 15, part of a group of girls. But it sounds eerie.)
3) Had lunch at American Legion Post #1 in Paris (I've used this one before)
4) Had dinner with George Steinbrenner (He used to support my college, and came to the Homecoming Banquet one year. It's a stretch, but I'm sticking with it.)
5) Caused a lab explosion. (It was small. More a big sputter, actually)
6) Put out a lab fire. (not related to #5, and not mine)
7) saw Lauren Bacall play the starring role in "Applause" on the London stage
8) Had tea in a Berlin convent
9) Sold the first novel I wrote
10) Knew someone who was alive in the 1870s (her name was Fanny, and she lived a couple doors down from my grandparents in Florida, She wore long dresses and bonnets year 'round. I used to visit her after school--she served me homemade vegetable juice, which may well have been the secret of her longevity. She was in her 90s in the mid-60s, hence my estimate as to age.

I took a year of shorthand in high school. I used to be pretty good.

It 's comforting to say that 'practice makes perfect'....
You are 'Gregg shorthand'. Originally designed to
enable people to write faster, it is also very
useful for writing things which one does not
want other people to read, inasmuch as almost
no one knows shorthand any more.

You know how important it is to do things
efficiently and on time. You also value your
privacy, and (unlike some people) you do not
pretend to be friends with just everyone; that
would be ridiculous. When you do make friends,
you take them seriously, and faithfully keep
what they confide in you to yourself.
Unfortunately, the work which you do (which is
very important, of course) sometimes keeps you
away from social activities, and you are often
lonely. Your problem is that Gregg shorthand
has been obsolete for a long time.
