Monday, Monday...
Sep. 27th, 2004 09:16 pmNot a bad day, as Mondays go. Pretty good, actually.
I added 283 words to Endgame last night, and had one of those cool things happen that makes the slog worthwhile. I ended the section with a sort of toss-off sentence, realizing after I wrote it that it could provide decent justification for a pivotal event. It fermented in my brain overnight. This morning, instead of getting ready for work, I wrote several pages of Jani-Lucien dialogue in my bedside notebook that will flesh out their upcoming scene and makes good use of the information provided in the toss-off. Nicely pointed. Lucien, ever the pragmatist. Jani, her mind made up.
On the home front, I found someone who can remove some junk maple trees from my yard *and* take care of other tree maintenance *and* provide landscaping services, including planting shrubs and such. I haven't done a good job with that over the years--I pick the wrong shrubs for the soil/weather, or the shrubs I do pick peter out after a few years. Nice to know that I will have a professional taking care of this for the first time. I'm looking forward to getting this yard cleaned up.
Good guitar lesson. I brought the music to The Church's "Under The Milky Way" and went over it with my instructor. It looks like this is a song I can learn, beginner that I am.
Finished and posted the tech writing homework assignment that I had thought was due on Wednesday.
Had lunch with a friend I haven't seen for some time.
All in all, a keeper day.
