Life in the Twilight Zone
Apr. 7th, 2004 08:45 pmYesterday, temps hit the 70s. Now I'm hearing we could have snow this weekend. Of course, I already raked the dead leaf mulch away from the flower beds. I am not going to rake it back.
Not a lot of snow, and it wouldn't hang around long. But at this point, it's the principle of the thing.
I keep reminding myself that I usually need a jacket at Wiscon, which takes place over Memorial Day weekend. It takes a while to warm up up here. And after it does, I will no doubt start griping about that, too.
What I wish...what I wish is that I had my summer off, as in days of childhood. Oh, the things I could do if I had my summers off. Sleep, for one thing. Clean my desk. Build some bookcases in my basement (which is not a dank hole but is actually pretty dry) and ease the strain on the double-stacked bookshelves in my office. One day, a few of those particle board shelves are going to snap in two, and boy oh boy, won't that be fun.
Summers off. I wish.
