A bunch of good links...thanks.

I might even try making my own mayonnaise (never tried.) The brownies--next winter for those.

And yes...Progressives who fall into using sexist ridicule or attack on anyone have fallen off the wagon.

I found unsweetened chocolate in the cupboard, so there will be baking this weekend. If they come out at all like the brownies made by the Recchiuti bakers, they will be wonderful. I will then embark upon a quest for the best unsweetened chocolate, because I think that's the make-or-break for this recipe.

I have never made mayo from scratch, either, but I keep hearing that once you try it, you never go back to storebought. I may try making a small amount, like a few tablespoons. I don't eat that much mayo, and I'm not sure it's a habit I want to get into to.

I didn't look at the photo that started this latest internet dust-up. Granted, it was Hustler, which is a rag--those trying to draw the false equivalence that there is no Republican War on Women because Flynt is the Dem Rush Limbaugh and the Cupp photo is the equivalent of what Limbaugh did to Sandra Fluke are full of manure. But the support I saw for the Cupp photo because she is a conservative woman who has advocated some b.s. policies and therefore deserves that treatment is also b.s.. Slam the policies she advocates, fine. But sexualized payback is foul no matter which side perpetrates it. We have to be better than that.

There's way too much sexualized attack on women online, period. Across the board, in just about every "denomination" (not speaking of religion, per se, but self-identified groups.) It's like the one thing the guys in self-identified groups can agree on is slagging women they're annoyed with for any reason with heavily sexualized abuse. Would we ever see picture of a guy they didn't agree with/were mad at/disliked with a penis in his mouth? Or for that matter, with his mouth stuffed with breast?

I know, some straight men slag gay men with sexualized verbal abuse, but what I've personally heard of that used the same words they use on women--treating them as if they were women.

But actual women? All we have to do is step out of line (any of the millions of lines drawn to fence us in) and a swarm of men are using the C-word, the F-word, the S-words...hollering that we are bad/evil/stupid and our sex-parts are vile. I suppose in a way it's good to know what's hiding inside all those otherwise normal-looking guys--I trust that most of them do look normal. There can't be that many spittle-flinging, wild-eyed, crazed-looking guys in the world, let alone that have internet connections. But it's kind of depressing to realize that behind any apparently sane and reasonable man you meet in the course of the day might be someone who goes online and spends hours a day thinking up the nastiest things he can think of (or copying someone else's) about women.

So yeah. Argue politics like someone who's got a brain, some basic skills in logic and exposition...argue on the merits of the position.
