First day of the new year
Jan. 1st, 2010 09:49 amIt began with my having to wash puppy dirt out of a pillowcase. At about quarter till midnight, neighbors started shooting off firecrackers. King responded by jumping up on my bed and trying to burrow somewhere/anywhere. How a dog can get dirty in snow, then manage to bring it indoors, who knows? But there I was at 1215am, standing at the bathroom sink hand washing a pillowcase and hoping the dirt would all come out.
I think it did.
To the neighbors who shot off the firecrackers--I hope you froze your asses off. Happy New Year.
Slept in--go figure. Pups were restless, but I ignored. Finally got up at quarter to eight or so to find that Gaby had made use of her corner for the first time in several weeks. I blame myself for this one, though--she had been inside for 7-8 hours, and that is about her upper limit. But, she managed to hit the piddle pad 100%, and stuff looks normal. So I guess the moral of the story is that it's OK to take a dump as long as you hit the pad. A rule for the New Year.
Spaghetti and meatballs today, I think. Not a traditional feast, but it will make the house smell good.
In other news, watched open-mouthed as the Hawks handled the Devils last night, 5-1. Only a screw-up at the end prevented
Today is the Winter Classic. Bruins vs Flyers. Yea, I can just watch hockey and not get emotionally involved.
Last of the holiday weekends for a while. Memorial Day, to be exact. I will enjoy it while I can. Pups have had breakfast. I learned the hard way that there is a reason why there are no microwave instructions for cooking steel cut oats. No, I take that back. You can nuke them. You just can't do so in a small bowl. You need a BIG bowl. Because of the foam-over. But the microwave cleaned up quick-as-you-please, and remaining oatmeal cooked up well on the stove so it was all good.
It really sounds as though things haven't begun well, doesn't it?
As long as it washes out with soap and water. Words to live by for 2010, I guess.
Hope everyone has a good day.
