Re: Yay to Panic

Ahhh I see you've bought into the old work-life balance myth. Fascinating. You seem to believe in it for yourself, but I've never noticed your characters actually enjoying extended periods of such balance. Perhaps this is their method of revenge?

Well, you wouldn't get to see their downtime since that would fall under the header of "doesn't move the story forward so needs to get cut". Niall dragging Jani to an opera performance, while possibly possessing humorous aspects, would strike some readers, and possibly Editor, as needless filler.

Unless a body fell out of a box onto the orchestra seats during the perfomance, at which point it all becomes work again.

Seriously though... try not to burn out. The K9 crowd is great to get you grounded and relaxed. Did you know petting a fur kid could lower your blood pressure? I hope to hear of literary projects from you for decades to come. I actually hope you will do it full time someday. Until the balance arrives by eliminating "traditional" work (I'm not going to imply writing isn't work), just be careful.

Not saying I won't go wiggy at some point. One reaches a strange point in time relativity where, while 9 months seemed like too little time, 3 months seems like just enough. I don't want to fall into that trap.
