Evil McKingy Dog, who would talk like a pirate if he could, and who does sometimes bark like one (Arrrr-argh!) is home. My biggest fear was a need for surgery to remove the nail, and that didn't prove necessary. Yes, it's split, but the vet felt it could be left alone to heal/fall off. My task will be to wash it twice a day with an antiseptic for the next seven days, and keep an eye out for an increase in licking or any sign of infection. King's task will be to continue to complicate my life, one which he has undertaken with admirable verve.
