Let's see how much I can post whilst using the hotel business kiosk computer. Really nice set-up, and quick as all get-out. But you're allowed 5 minutes if there are people waiting, and while there are no people waiting at the moment (Wiscon Saturday morning, sunny for a change, Farmers Market in full swing), this could change at any time.

For the last couple of years, Friday afternoon panels at Wiscon have been replaced by The Gathering, during which you can grab coffee/tea and cookies, have a shoulder massage, peruse the Tiptree Auction items, have your palm read by Suzy Charnas, etc. The room is filled with tables, and folks usually wander about and talk to folks they haven't seen since last year. It's pretty much a case of the second floor mezzanine spilling over into a ballroom, but it's a nice, relaxing way to work into the con spirit.

Met [livejournal.com profile] matiociquala and [livejournal.com profile] truepenny. Was seconded into numbering auction items. Wandered over the the Dealers Room, and bought two pairs of earrings from Elise Mathiessen (sp??), spring green and lavender stones with sterling wires entitled "The Black Belt Pixie" and milky glass shells with sterling wires entitled "Pilgrimage of Ghosts". Then adjourned to the Governor's Club with Ellen Klages, Anne Harris, Helen the Columbia soon-to-be-PhD whose last name I've forgotten Bad Kris, and others to grab drinks and talk. Good conversation was had, followed by a quick dinner at a local Italian restaurant with Linda Shore, Ellen, Carol Emshwiller, and Amy Thomson. After that, I'm afraid I petered out. Blew off the Opening Ceremonies and turned in.

Today, another sunny morning. Will check out the Farmers Market, then dawdle about until my first panel at 230, Believable Evil.

More later, I hope...
